Pluck is the editorial side of String Theory Cartoons—a place for exploring animation, Webtoons, art and the culture that grows around them.
We’ve always been fascinated by the things people draw, watch and remember. Not simply what becomes popular, but why certain images, characters and stories stay with us long after we first encounter them.
Why can a cartoon theme song instantly take us back to childhood? Why does a hand-drawn line sometimes feel different from something created digitally? How did scrolling change the way comics tell stories? Why do certain characters become part of our shared visual language?
Those are Pluck questions.
We’re interested in cartoons, animation, Webtoons, art, artists, techniques, history and the unexpected corners of visual culture. Sometimes that means looking backward. Sometimes it means discovering something new. And occasionally it means following an idea into a dimension we weren’t expecting.
Pluck isn’t built around rankings, outrage or finding reasons to dislike things. We’d rather begin with curiosity and see where it takes us.
